You Are Never Too Broken In The Eyes Of God

you are not broken, loved by God, God loves you, Christianity, Christian faith, God's child
Annie Spratt

You feel broken. Your breathing is sharp. Your legs are heavy. You close your eyes and all you can see is all that you’re lacking, all that you’ve lost, all that’s left you behind. When you put your hands to your chest it’s as if there’s an empty space where your heart used to be. No matter what you do, or say, or where your feet wander, there’s something missing. And you just can’t seem to find answers, or healing, or light anymore.

You shuffle through your days. Your mind wanders at stoplights, gazing into other cars, wishing you could have their lives, their happiness, their peace. You absentmindedly doodle in the corners of your notepads, you zone out during meetings, you long to be anyone, anywhere else.

No matter what energy you try to build, what love you try to bring in, what positive words you attempt to speak to yourself, you feel helpless, worthless, alone. You’re not yourself anymore. You haven’t been for a while.

When you think of where you are, you feel as if you’re irreparable, as if the wounds sliced through your heart cannot be fixed. You want to cry, to scream, to destroy everything around you, but you barely have the energy to stand.

Yet there is nothing about you that can’t be healed. There is no pain that cannot be mended or reversed. There is no cut in your skin or soul that can’t be bandaged and brought back to full health.

There is no such thing as ‘too broken’ in the eyes of God.

God sees you. He sees you wandering through your days. He sees you fighting just to wake up, to put on clothes, to look yourself in the mirror. He sees the tears running down your cheeks, the heaviness in your legs as they drag behind you. He sees the ache in your heart, hears the pain in your voice. And He’s listening.

Your Father knows the burden you are going through; He knows how exhausted your body and soul are. But your brokenness does not make you unworthy of love.

Because when He looks at you, He sees His creation. He sees His purpose. He sees all the work and joy and love He put into you. He sees all the potential you have, the person you are meant to be. He sees the things that you’ve overcome, the strength you’ve embodied.

He sees all the ways you are beautiful and deserving of good—and as you trust Him, as you let your pain go, as you let yourself be loved, as you forgive and believe that better days will come—He will heal you.

You are not too broken in the eyes of God. You are not too weak, or too torn down, or too far gone to be rescued. Though sometimes the pain of this earth will bury you, your Father is forever reaching out His hand. He is forever leaning in. He is forever guiding, supporting, standing, and battling for you.

There is nothing you can do or say to ever push Him away.

So yes, maybe you’re going through something absolutely soul-crushing. Maybe you’ve lost someone you love, broken a person’s heart, did something you never thought you’d do. Maybe you’ve watched people turn their backs on you. Maybe you’ve been the one to run. Maybe everything you thought to be true has completely shattered before your eyes. Maybe you’re scared to even take a next step.

But even when you do not have the strength to stand, know your Father is ready to carry you.

You are loved. You are saved. You are not facing this pain alone.

Let your God shine His light into your life. Let Him guide you, let Him strengthen you, let Him remind you that you can and will make it through. Let Him speak His truth—that you don’t have to, and won’t be broken forever.

Let Him show you that thorough His eyes, you are never any less than whole. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
