It’s Going To Ache Before It Starts To Heal

God & Man

The worst pain, the most excruciating pain, the pain that makes you go why me and why now and how could this happen to me is actually a good sign. This may sound ridiculous to you if you are in pain right now, but the truth is when you are struggling the most or at the lowest point in your life, that is the point from which you start to get better.

You see, thats why they call it rock bottom. The most painful point of your life. the point that you think you cannot get up from and will never ever recover from, that is the point you need to reach before your healing can really begin or take hold. I realised this when someone once told me “bad things come in threes.” And it struck me how odd it was that when one thing in life was going wrong, it felt like everything was going wrong at the same time. This is because the universe was actually letting me know something important, that I was in need of a great change and that I desperately needed time to reflect and heal in the best way I possibly could.

So it brought me to a point where I had no choice but to heal. It does the same to us all. Emotional pain is a sign that we need growth spiritually and thats exactly what the healing journey is. Think of when the world has had to heal and how awful it has been. Usually, it’s after a war, after carnage, after some kind of unimaginable savagery that we bind together and try to grow and heal for the better.

It is human nature to reach the point of no return and recognise that the only way out of the sadness, the pain, the heartache is to move forward in a different direction from where you were moving before.

In this time of great pain, remember this: you will heal. You will recover. You will find a way out of this terrible situation where your heart feels like someone has burned it alive and even breathing hurts so badly that you wonder whether life is worth it at all.

It is. Because YOU are worth saving.

Just remember this. It will hurt before it gets better. It will ache before you realise you need to make things change. If you’re looking for a liferaft to save you from drowning, it’s you. Your life raft is you. Just feel the pain, and let the healing come. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
