Jessica Ogletree got a frantic message from her daughter after she visited a Georgia fishery last weekend. When going through the photos, her daughter Haley noticed something very creepy about one of the selfies she took.

There was someone — or something — in the background of the picture that nobody remembers seeing.

Jessica posted this message to Facebook, trying to enlist the help of her friends (and the internet) in solving the mystery:

And this is the eerie picture that everyone is freaking out about:

Jessica provided more details about the day in question:

Notice my son Kolton in the background and then notice the gentleman standing to his right!!! Ya’ll this gentleman was NOT with them today and there was no one else at these back ponds where they were fishing! The only people there today were Haley, Kolton, and their grandparents.

The figure appears to be partially translucent, as you can almost make out the foliage through him. He is standing basically right on top of Haley’s brother Kolton, so you would think that he absolutely would’ve noticed a figure there.

Over 2,500 commenters have tried to explain what exactly this figure is. Skeptical suggestions range from it being a shadow, to it being an African American man, to the whole thing being faked for publicity.

Some people have focused in on the shadow cast over Kolton’s shoulder as a primary source of skepticism:

“Photoshopped image is photoshopped… speckling only on shadow on back and ghost? Speckling you see NOWHERE else in image… Shadow on toolbox edge makes no sense either,” Michael Teinert said.

Others have responded by saying the shadow would have to be originating from somewhere across the truck, and so it isn’t necessarily evidence that the figure next to Kolton has been digitally manipulated.

Hundreds of people seem to believe it is a real paranormal entity, with ideas spanning from “ghost” to “demon” to…who knows??

What do you think? Did this photo capture something paranormal, or just a load of BS? Thought Catalog Logo Mark
