Having a nightmare every now and then is one thing; having terrifying hallucinations every time you’re about to fall asleep is another thing entirely.

And yet that’s what happens to photographer Nicolas Bruno, who suffers from sleep paralysis. Growing up, the images he saw while he was falling asleep were so terrible that he became an insomniac and began to suffer from depression. That is, until one of his high school teachers suggested he turn his nightmares into art.

Now Bruno battles his fears by documenting them through his camera lens. The results are as captivating as they are absolutely horrifying.
