In This New Year, I Hope You Let God Guide Your Feet

Let go and let God. That saying seems so clichéd sometimes, but it’s the absolute truth. Sometimes life gets crazy. Sometimes we’re faced with situations we simply can’t control. Sometimes we just need to sit back and surrender ourselves, our emotions, our fears, our entire lives to the one who created us, knowing that He cares and will never abandon us in our time of need.

Let go and let God. It sounds silly, but it’s a reminder that we can’t always handle the weight of this imperfect world, we can’t always make sense of the tragedy or pain that happens to or around us, we can’t always fix or save or help people. But God is, and always will be, in control. And when we stop clinging to things we have no power over and let Him take the lead, we find peace.

Let go and let God. I hope you repeat this to yourself when you are in over your head, when you aren’t sure what path to walk down, when you don’t know what to do next. I hope you let those words calm you, remind you that He is forever with you, within you. And you don’t have to fear.

In this new year, I hope you let God take the lead.

I hope you quit thinking you have to have everything figured out, that you are somehow ‘less’ than the people around you, that you’re not ‘measuring up,’ or not ‘doing okay’ by the standards of the world. I hope you quit stressing yourself out because you haven’t finished every item on your to-do list, or because there’s still things you don’t understand.

I hope that when you feel overwhelmed, instead of taking the pressure upon yourself, you exhale, you pray, and you turn to your Creator.

In this new year, I hope you let God be your ruler.

I hope you no longer let yourself be pushed and prodded and persuaded by the things of this world. I hope you stop focusing so much on money or material things as a measure of your worth. I hope you stop falling into relationships with people who are temporary, or don’t value you and what you believe.

I hope, when you feel yourself wavering, you trust God to show you the truth and bring you where you’re meant to be.

In this new year, I hope you let God reveal His plan.

I hope you don’t feel as if you need to know everything, but trust that He’s watching over you, every step. I hope you learn to pray and follow Him, even when it feels like your world is crumbling. I hope you know that He has a plan for you, and that you surrender yourself to it, even if you don’t exactly know what He means or where He’s taking you.

I hope, when you don’t know what to do, that you lean on Him rather than the things of the world, and heed His path, wherever it may lead.

In this new year, I hope you let God guide your feet.

I hope you let His word wash over you, His love fill your soul. I hope you listen to Him, to the beating of your heart as you head down a certain direction. I hope you are willing to change, to alter your paths, to be His disciple, even if He takes you somewhere you didn’t think you would go.

I hope, in this new year, that you know He is an almighty God, a loving god, a perfect God. And I hope that you let go, and fully let Him in. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
