Is It Possible To Have More Than One Soulmate?

Is it wrong to care about someone else when you have someone you love in your life already? Is it possible to be in love with one person and fall for another at the same time? Have you ever met someone you had such a deep connection with that it scared you and made you want to run away? There are so many questions and there are not enough answers.

I am part of a culture where women do not fall in love. Rather, they get arranged marriages and learn to love someone else. Although many of my close friends, family members, and my own parents have had arranged marriages, I do not want one. I was never raised to be one of those girls who waits for prince charming to come and save her. Sometimes, I wish I was though. I have met many incredible men in my life who treat me like a queen. I’ve met my Aladdin, Hercules, Prince Eric, John Smith, and my Beast. It’s every little girl’s dream to be a Disney princess, right? Could each of these boys be my soulmates in one shape or form?

Do you think soulmates are real? The common definition of a soulmate is a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner. I think a soulmate is someone you have an immediate connection with the moment you meet them. It doesn’t matter if you’ve known them for an hour, a day, or even five years. Time is not necessarily a factor.

I believe human beings can have more than one soulmate. I find it hard to believe that every human being was made only for one other person. With a world population of 7.5 billion people and based on a study conducted by the United Nations, there are 101.8 men for every 100 women, how could there possibly only be one person for you?

Who do you know that has ventured to every single region, county, and country in the world? For instance, let’s take a look at the smallest populated state in the United States. Based on Wikipedia, it is Wyoming. For all we know one of my soulmates is in Wyoming and I have never seen nor traveled there.

You’ll never know who or what is waiting for you in the world until you step outside your comfort zone and try something new. Start a conversation with someone on a crowded train. From my life experiences, I’ve learned that men are just as intimidated by women as women are by men. Be confident and approach that cute boy in the office or that pretty girl in the bar. What do you have to lose?

Society pressures men to be the breadwinners and go-getters, but if we are fighting for fairness and equality, then women should be willing to make the first move too. Men love attention just as much as women. There’s nothing more flattering than having someone with a great personality approach you and start a conversation.

If you need a little liquid courage to help you feel at ease to calm your nerves then grab yourself a drink. If that individual does not seem interested, at least you won’t be left wondering “What if…”

Life is short. For all you know your soulmate is sitting on a train, bus, or a couch hoping to meet someone like you. You’ll never know unless you try. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
