Love never really goes away, it gives us a few breaks, it may forget about us for a few months or maybe a few years, but it always comes back. It comes back when you’re ready for it and it comes back when you’ve let go of the idea that love destroys people.

You will find love once you’ve learned to let go. It will come back to you when you stop holding on to the heartbreak, the tears, the drama and the pain, it comes back when you hope for the future instead of lamenting the past and it comes back when you learn that not all lovers are meant to last, that some people are not right for you and that some stories are not meant to be relived.

You will find love once you’ve learned to value yourself. Because this is what it all comes down to really, how far you’re willing to compromise, how much you can really take before you decide to leave and how well you treat yourself so you can set the standards for how other people treat you.

You will find love once you’ve learned to attach love to things other than relationships. Once you’ve learned to love your job or live your passion, once you’ve invested more time and effort with friends and family, once you’ve known how to love or care for a pet. Because there are so many things other than people that will open your heart to love, if you look closely, love is everywhere.

You will find love once you’ve understood that you have to keep living even when you’re heartbroken.  Even if you hate being single, even if you’re lonely, you still have to live, you have to go out and travel. You have to sign up for new classes or hobbies or activities, you have to call old friends and go visit them wherever they are. The more you live, the more you will find love in unusual places and fall in love with different faces and you will find yourself learning more about love and less about heartbreak.

Love will come back when you’re ready to set it free and fly with it.
