5 Reasons You Should Get Rid Of Toxic People

1. They never want you to succeed.

They always see themselves as number 1. They also manage to pull you down whenever you want to unleash your potential — it’s like they’re born to make you feel inferior all the time.

Why you should get rid of them: How can a bird fly when it’s caged? You should never let anyone make you feel mediocre.

2. They make you feel uncomfortable.

You can’t entirely be yourself whenever you’re with them — it feels like you have to always please them even if you know that you shouldn’t.

Why you should get rid of them: You know you shouldn’t please them, but you can’t stop. You know you’re uncomfortable, but you try your best to tell yourself that you aren’t. If you hang out with them for too long, you might just lose yourself and be one of them.

3. They create drama.

They always want to be the talk of the town so they’ll create issues out of thin air and make sure that everyone knows about them.

Why you should get rid of them: You can’t always deal with people who have so many problems, especially when you know that they created it themselves. It’s tiring to talk about problems all the time.

4. They are self-centered.

They’re often Joffrey Baratheon-like — self-centered people who think that everybody needs to bow down before them and acknowledge their royal presence.

Why you should get rid of them: You might end up competing with a lot of people in writing their biography.

5. They are always depressed.

Like real-life dementors, they suck the life out of you. Like what Remus Lupin told Harry Potter:

Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, and they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them. Get too near a Dementor and every good feeling; every happy memory will be sucked out of you. If it can, the Dementor will feed on you long enough to reduce you to something like itself, soulless and evil. You will be left with nothing but the worst experiences of your life.

Why you should get rid of them: They’re emotionally tiring. You don’t need more stress in your life. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
