An Open Letter To Every Boy Who "Doesn't Want A Relationship Right Now"

Some Of The Best Days Of Your Life Haven’t Happened Yet

A year ago you never would have imagined yourself falling in love. You never would have envisioned the first date, the conversation that lasted until 4am. A year ago you sat in a dusty coffeeshop, an afternoon class, staring off into the distance wondering who you would share your time with, wondering if you would find someone whose heart played well with your heart.

There was a moment in time when you never knew about the trip that changed your life. You simply never knew that it would take the ocean and the stars, the rivers and the rain, to teach you that you could feel clean again.

A few months ago you slept beside your sadness, you had it tangled within your sheets, knotted to your skin. You never believed the souls that told you to keep going, you never listened when they insisted that the darkness would be pushed out of your bones by the most stunning light. You never believed that you would survive, you never believed that you would make it.

Until you did.

See, the most formative things that have happened to you in life were things that you never expected. The things that changed you and grew you, the people you met in coffee shops, and the hearts you fell in love with — you never knew their names, you never knew that they were going to save you. You can’t anticipate the moments and the souls that will take your breath away. That is what makes them so special, so rare and so moving.

Trust that some of the best days of your life haven’t even happened yet. There are going to be parties that leave you dancing until 6am, spontaneous adventures that teach you more than you ever learned in a classroom. There are going to be nights that will stay burned beneath your eyelids, memories that dance underneath your skin. Life is going to exceed your expectations, it is going to astonish you with its timing.

Remember — you have not felt it all.
