15 Sensual Songs To Put On Your Weekend Playlist

I like a lot of things. I like sharks. I like poetry. I like wearing onesie pajamas and eating frozen yogurt with gummy bears (SHUT UP, I’M A GROWN UP!!!). And I really love sharing music with people: so here’s my list of weekend musts — sensual, alternative r&b, stuff that is kind of haunting and also makes you want to find someone you dig and make out until your lips are sore. What are ya’ll listening to?

1. LION BABE – Treat Me Like Fire

“Hey boy, I like your style.
Come over here, let’s talk awhile.
Yea you, I’m curious what we would do, the two of us.
What would you like to do? I’ll introduce you to
my eyes, my lips, my hair. If you’re good we’ll go from there.”

2. Elli Ingram – Sober

I’ve been in love with Elli since I first saw her glorious rendition of Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice.” I might be biased here, but EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW HER BECAUSE SHE’S AMAZING. She’s an auditory aphrodisiac, and let me tell you, I’m into it.

3. Marc E. Bassy – Faded

I’m kind of obsessed (in a totally healthy way…)Tell him Ari sent you so he maybe decides to be my friend..? Eh?

4. Kehlani – The Way ft. Chance The Rapper

If you haven’t heard of Kehlani yet, you’re about to. Oakland native, Kehlani, is this young ball of talent and maturity — it’s kind of incredible to watch. I’m going out on a limb here to say her mixtape You Should Be Here is one of the best music projects of 2015. She’s been grinding for a while and it’s beautiful to finally see everyone recognizing she’s such an authentic and shining star.

5. Kilo Kish – Wax

“It’s no words no more
just bodies dipped in wax
we’re just hoping to crack
still chipping at that.”

6. Chet Faker – Release Your Problems

Oh, Chet Faker. You’re too good to me.

7. Sonny Shotz – Lisa ft. Oncue

If you’re into this jam, listen to all of American Summer. I just stumbled upon Sonny Shotz and it was such a happy accident. He’s dope as hell.

8. Zak Waters – Pony

The original version by Ginuwine is already a classic, and this Zak Waters spin is also very, very…hm…what’s the phrasing I’m looking for? OH YEAH – A DAMN PANTY DROPPA!

9. Jack Garratt – The Love You’re Given

“I’ve been trying to give you my love
But you won’t let me, won’t let me
I’ve been trying to give you some space
But you won’t let me, won’t let me.”

10. Låpsley – Painter (Valentine)

OW. FEELINGS. IN MY HEART. AND MY PANTS.

11. Astronomyy – Nothin On My Mind

“Take me to a place
Where we both don’t have to face
The things we faked
There’ll be nothing on my mind.”

12. IYES – Glow

EXPLOSION IN MY EARS! IN A GOOD WAY! – sorry, just got too excited. I’m better now.

13. Elijah Blake – I Just Wanna…ft. Dej Loaf

Mmmmmmmmmm. MMMMMM. Getting excited all over again.

14. Autre Ne Veut – Ego Free Sex Free

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrDZnvR8QNA

I was first introduced to Autre Ne Veut by a boy I had a MASSIVE crush on, so there’s some nostalgia going on for me when I listen to this. But damn. Damnnnnnnnnnn. Reminds me of Prince, but with a new contemporary spin.

15. flor – ocean

This was another happy accidental discovery. Predicting big things. A chilled out alternative-ambient sound with impressive lyrical prowess. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
